Using the Directory

The directory contains only those people who you have flagged as eligible for inclusion who have not subsequently opted out of being included.

Searching

Searching is as simple as selecting a filter from the dropdown, setting a value or selecting from preset values, and applying it. Filters can be stacked (treated as a human "AND" but a machine "OR") so that we emit the most logical set of responses. Searches can be run in two modes, one of which is score-based to provide those who hit on most filters first, followed by the rest in descending match score order.

Connecting

For those who are in the search results, many if not all are likely contactable. These are people who (if they haven't opted out) can be sent a message via the directory.

There are two ways to do so:

  1. add to a contact list

  2. click 'email now' on an individual search result

In either case the message is sent using a system sender email address with a reply-to set to the sender's address. AlumnIQ does not disclose the recipient's email address, ever - this is specifically done to protect against scrapers and misuse of directory data.

Changing your Privacy Settings

Under the Directory section on the profile is a button to set Privacy Settings. The constituent can determine how much of their information can be listed in the directory including disclosure of membership in individual groups.
